Graduating top of her year from the University of Malaya, Dr. M. Patricia Murugasu spent two years in Oral Pathology at the Institute for Medical Research and then undertook specialist training in orthodontics at the University of Adelaide, where she attained an MDS degree. 

In 1997, she gained a Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. Dr. Patricia has worked as a part-time tutor in orthodontics at the University of Malaya’s Dental Faculty. 

Since 1999, she has maintained her own private practice in orthodontics.

Dr. Patricia is a founding committee member and past president of the Malaysian Association of Orthodontists and is currently also a member of the Academy of Medicine and the Malaysian Dental Association. 

She maintains international membership in the American Association of Orthodontists and the World Federation of Orthodontists. 

Her current interests are in Orthodontic treatment with Invisalign and the orthodontic management of cleft lip and palate patients.
